CHALLENGE
- Most unsold textile stock is currently incinerated/landfilled
- Substantial economic potential is locked in intact products
- EU regulation prohibits incineration of unsold stock
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
- Analyse 1.8 tons of pre-consumer textiles to identify most effective circular strategies
- Site visit at PreZero’s facilities in Prague
- Develop and secure a strategic contract between KiK and PreZero to maximize the value of pre-consumer waste
OUTCOME
- Cost-effective & environmental-friendly option developed for EoL of waste
- Income stream generated through pre-consumer waste instead of costs for waste handling
- Reduced risk of scrutiny by customers & gained critical insights about textile waste
